As we begin our First Sunday of Advent, the Sunday of Hope, Pastor Char focuses her meditation on the lectionary reading from Luke 21:25-36, which speaks of the signs of Jesus’ second coming and the call for all disciples to be prepared, alert, faithful and hopeful. The words have apocalyptic imagery to them – which oddly sounds much like the daily morning news these days. Do these ancient words still apply 2018? As people of faith, how do we live today between despair and hope? What will we choose to be witness to – our feelings of helplessness, or the gift of being hope-filled people? What difference does our care for one another make? How do our “specks of hope” add to Jesus’ healing, saving light?
